you may be guiltily wondering if too many episodes of Thomas the tank engine is making your lad go mad for little wheeled toys. but don't sweat it. liking tiny vehicles seems to be an inborn preference. in one study, even boy rhesus monkeys (who certainly hadn't heard of Sir Topham Hatt!) strongly preferred playing with toy vehicles when given a choice between those and soft stuffed animals. 'since most rhesus monkeys aren't spending a lot of time watching TV or in toys 'R' Us, that argus for some sort of biologic predisposition' says Christina Williams, Ph.D. a Duke  University psycholgy and neuro-science professor who studies male-female-based differences. girl monkeys, on the other hand seemed a bit more open-minded about their playthings, getting their uroom on almost as much as they played with stuffed animals.
