Better bred

The partnership between suttons/dobies and Swiss fruit breeder lubera has been extended with a number of additions to an already delectable range. Fourberry black pearl , from both Suttons and Dobie's, are a selection of golden current ribes oureum which would be entirely at home in the ornamental border. They have three-season value: lovely yellow flowers, huge crops of sweet, juicy berries from July to min-august and spectacular red autumn foliage. 'Lady late', also available from both Suttons and dobies, is 'the latest of all gooseberries', ripening heavy crops of large, dark red berries from the end of July to early august. Raspberry 'two-timer sugana yellow', also in both catalogues, boasts two crops of fruit each year like its red sister. And dobies is offering three lovely additions to lubera's 'paradis' apple family, which boasts excellent flavour, earl productivity and high scab-resistance: red-skinned 'paradis citta', pink-skinned 'paradis fantasia' and yellow-skinned 'paradis morgana'.
